Kahnawake Cannabis Control Board Issues Micro-Cultivation Licence

The Kahnawą:ke Cannabis Control Board (KCCB) is pleased to announce that a Micro-Cultivation Licence has been officially granted to MSJ Cultivation. This licence issuance follows the thorough evaluation and approval process set out in the Kahnawą:ke Cannabis Control Law (KCCL) and the Regulation Concerning Licensing Requirements and Procedures (the Regulation).

Pursuant to Section 5(b) of the Regulation, the Board is authorized to issue Micro-Cultivation Licences upon verifying that applicants meet the eligibility, suitability, and background verification criteria. MSJ Cultivation has successfully demonstrated compliance with these requirements, including operational standards, security protocols, and other requirements imposed by the Board.

Additionally, MSJ Cultivation has been issued a Health Canada Micro-Cultivation Licence, and by holding both licences, is now authorized, subject to the other provisions of the KCCL and its Regulations, to:

  • possess cannabis;
  • obtain dried cannabis, fresh cannabis, cannabis plants, or cannabis plant seeds through cultivation, propagation, and harvesting;
  • alter cannabis for testing purposes by changing its chemical or physical properties; and
  • sell cannabis to holders of a valid Distribution Licence or export off the Territory to a licensed processor or retailer in another jurisdiction.

The granting of this licence affirms the Board’s commitment to facilitating a regulated and safe cannabis industry that promotes socio-economic development within the Territory of Kahnawą:ke, while upholding health and safety standards as outlined in the KCCL. As per the Regulation Concerning Licensing Requirements and Procedures under the Kahnawą:ke Cannabis Control Law, the KCCB has notified all parties, including the community, of the issuance of the Micro-Cultivation Licence.
