Microchipping Clinic for Cats and Dogs

10/09/2024

The Public Safety Division’s Animal Control Services is excited to announce a community-wide microchipping clinic for your beloved pets.

A Veterinarian and veterinary technician will be on-site to perform the service for pet owners. The pet owner’s contact information is stored on the microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, and inserted under the skin between the pet’s shoulder blades. It is a standard procedure for Veterinarians, animal shelters, and Animal Control Officers to check for these microchips.

The clinic takes place on Saturday, October 26th, from 1pm to 5pm at the Animal Control Office located near the Peacekeeper station on the Old Malone Highway.

Why Microchip your pet?

  • Permanent: A Microchip is a permanent form of identification - It will never get lost or fall off
  • Safety: Lost pets with a microchip generally have a higher return rate than those without one
  • Travel Requirements: As of August 1, 2024, all pets must be microchipped to travel over the border

Normally this service costs $40, but for this clinic only, the cost is just $25. Kahnawa’kehró:non only. Appointments are required and will be scheduled every 10 minutes. Call 450-632-0635, ext. 53527 to secure your spot.
