09/19/2024
The Office of the Kahnawake Kanienakehaka Registry (OKKR) is inviting the community to attend two (2) upcoming information sessions that will provide a detailed overview of the application process for both recognition and residency on the Kahnawake Kanienakehaka Registry (KKR).
The following sessions will be held at the Okwari Room, located on the second floor of the Kahnawake Services Complex:
- Session One - Wednesday, October 2nd, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm
- Session Two - Tuesday, October 29th, from 6pm to 8pm
These sessions will focus on the process for applying to be recognized on the KKR, obtaining Approved Kahnawà:ke Resident authorization, and applying for Residency Permits. Additionally, attendees will receive information about the forthcoming launch of the Complaints Process for eviction of an individual in violation of the Kahnawake Residency Law.
According to the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law, any person residing in the community without recognition on the KKR, authorization as an Approved Kahnawake Resident or an authorized Residency Permit is in contravention of the Law.
Though no applications will be distributed or accepted during the sessions, copies of the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Law and the Kanien’kehá:ka Registry Law will be available for review.
