06/12/2023
The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) wishes to notify the community that a MOTUS Radio Tower has been installed at the newly constructed natural area on Tekakwitha Island.
MOTUS towers detect banded birds that pass through the area and are part of an extensive monitoring network in Canada and the US. The tower on Tekakwitha Island will inform about migrating species using the habitat.
The tower was installed by KEPO staff and a collaborator from Environment and Climate Change Canada. Please be aware that the tower has guide wires and rebar to stabilize it.
Please call KEPO at 450-635-0600 or email environmentprotection@mck.ca if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
