MCK in Court in support of a challenge to Bill 96-affected law

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, Nitsénhaienhs Arnold Boyer and Tonya Perron, and lawyer Suzanne Jackson of MCK Legal Services attended Quebec Superior Court in Montréal this morning in support of a challenge that has been brought against the amendments to Law 101, as a result of Bill 96, relating to access to Justice.
The challenge is being brought on behalf of lawyers. The MCK is neither a party nor an intervenor, but is interested in the case and its eventual outcome. The MCK’s presence is in support of the challenge. Ietsénhaienhs Perron has provided an affidavit on behalf of MCK outlining the impacts of the amendments on the MCK and the community.
