Respect the worksite at Tekakwitha Island
04/13/2022
The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to request that community members respect the worksite for the Bay Project at Tekakwitha Island. The fencing in the area has repeatedly been torn down or run over by ATVs and snowmobiles, causing damage and requiring repairs.
The area was planted and seeded last Fall, and the environment is very sensitive to disturbance. The wetlands were created to restore the island and provide habitat for turtles, snakes, birds, and more.
Let us all do our part to respect Mother Earth and the restoration efforts.
For more information, please contact KEPO at environmentprotection@mck.ca.
