Medical Masks Required on all School Buses

09/23/2021

Due to the ongoing fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre Kahnawą:ke Public Health Team and the Public Safety Commission wish to advise the community that, effective immediately, medical masks* must be worn on Kahnawą:ke school buses at all times.

In accordance with Public Health guidelines, medical masks will be required when students are on the bus, along with other important measures to ensure everybody’s health and safety:

  • If a student walks on with a cloth mask, the bus driver or bus monitor will provide** a medical mask to that child
  • Students will be assigned seats on each bus
  • Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors will be required to maintain a list of students and chart/map indicating where each child is seated

We are asking for the community’s cooperation by having parents/guardians explain the new measures to their children and to ensure that they have access to medical masks before boarding their bus.

* 3ply Medical or surgical grade masks

** Medical/surgical grade masks will be provided to students by the Daily Transportation Department while supplies last.
