MCK congratulates Kahnawake actress Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs on upcoming Emmy Awards appearance

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to congratulate Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs on her upcoming appearance on the prestigious Emmy Awards program this weekend. Her appearance as a presenter (either handing out trophies or making introductions) was announced by CBS and the Emmys organization on Monday. Her selection was in the ‘first wave’ of 34 celebrities chosen to be presenters at the event, which traditionally has been viewed by millions around the world.
“This is pretty incredible,” said Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. “Kawennáhere’s career has taken her to places most of us can’t even fathom. She continues to be the source of great pride not only for her family and friends, but all of Kahnawà:ke. On behalf of the community I’d like to congratulate her on this special honor. We’ll all be cheering you on, girl!”
Kawennáhere has won awards both as an actor and as a filmmaker. Her current projects are the Rutherford Falls, Reservation Dogs and the upcoming Bootlegger. She is among the group of young Kahnawà:ke women actors and filmmakers who have made an impact on the national and international scene in the past several years, including Kaniehtí:io Horn, Tracey Deer, Brittany LeBorgne, Heather White and Roxann Whitebean.
