Elders 85 and up to begin vaccinations March 4th

02/26/2021

The Kahnawake COVID-19 Task Force and the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC) are pleased to announce that two hundred (200) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be coming in on Thursday, March 4th to the Mohawk Super Bingo Hall Mass Vaccination Center. This is earlier than previously expected by one week.

The priority group of elders aged eighty-five (85) and over will be the first to have the opportunity to get vaccinated. Vaccinations will take place by appointment only on Thursday, March 4th, and Friday, March 5th. Anyone who is accompanying and is 70 years of age and older will also be able to be vaccinated.

Appointments will be scheduled beginning on Monday, March 1st at 1pm by calling the KMHC at 450-638-3930, extension 2295, or 2206. Please do not call before this time. You should have your Medicare card in hand when calling to book your appointment (if accompanying person is over 70, they need to schedule at same time with Medicare number as well). Individuals are asked to coordinate travel arrangements with friends or caregivers on the day of their appointment. However, in particular circumstances, transportation assistance may be provided. Should you have a need for assistance, you should notify KMHC when booking your appointment.

Prioritization for Kahnawa’kehró:non 70 and over will take place once the 85-plus category is complete and before mass vaccinations take place in the community. As vaccine delivery dates fluctuate on a regular basis, we will continue to provide you with updates and information as it becomes available.  This is an exciting time! We thank you for your patience and collaboration!
