Important Community Notice

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake is asking the community’s assistance in determining the presence of people residing and/or conducting business in the Territory who do not have the right to do so.

This notice is being sent in direct response to concerns raised by Kahnawa’kehró:non.

“The community members who brought this topic to Chief and Council were completely within their right to do so,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhrhon Delisle, Jr. “We have long-standing customs in our community that need to be respected. We will explore ways to deal with this issue.”

As such, the Kahnawà:ke Membership Department will be asking Kahnawa’kehró:non to contact Shari Lahache and/or Arlene Beauvais at the Social Development Unit (Membership Department) at 450-638-0500 over the next thirty (30) days if they know of anyone who is in clear violation of Kahnawà:ke custom in relation to these topics. Discretion is assured.
