Preliminary work begins in preparation for sturgeon study

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the community that technicians from the Ministère des Fôrets, de la Faune et des Parcs will be on the Territory on Monday, November 9th (rain date of Tuesday, November 10th) to gather preliminary information for a sturgeon study that will be completed in 2021 in collaboration with the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO). The technicians will be accompanied by a representative from KEPO.
This preliminary work will take place under the Mercier Bridge, the North Wall and along the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River to the Rapids.
No fish will be caught/captured at this time.
Health and safety measures in place for COVID-19 will be respected and followed, such as physical distancing and hand hygiene. Masks are mandatory.
