09/28/2020
The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force wishes to update the community that it has officially raised the Pandemic Status to Orange/Atierén:ta. This means Kahnawà:ke is at a higher risk level of community spread and higher risk of transmission of the virus. Enhanced measures will be implemented, and specific measures will be strengthened.
Effective immediately, the following directives have been implemented as a first phase:
- Private gatherings are limited to six (6) people
- Public Gatherings are limited to twenty-five (25) people
- People are strongly encouraged stay within their households
- No unnecessary travel into Red Zones highly recommended
- Residents advised to stay local as much as possible
- Schools will prepare to move online, should that be required
Because they operate in controlled environments and are routinely inspected, businesses will remain status quo until further notice.
It should be noted that these measures are preliminary, and that the situation is evolving daily and may change quickly. Further measures may be required.
The Task Force wishes to remind Kahnawa’kehró:non of their personal responsibility to follow the measures and guidelines to protect themselves, their family, and fellow community members.
