MCK meets with Federal officials to discuss Cannabis legislation

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chief & Council are meeting with a group of four Members of Parliament (MP’s) this morning to discuss Kahnawà:ke’s approach on cannabis, and the needs and concerns of the community.
The meeting was requested by MP Marc Miller.
Those in attendance include Miller, who represents the riding of Ville Marie – Le Sud Ouest – Iles des Soeurs, and MP’s Don Rusnak, who is the Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous Services (who is a Northern Ontario Ojibway); Bill Blair, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Justice (and a former City of Toronto police chief); Jean-Claude Poissant, who represents Laprairie; and several other officials from Indigenous & Northern Affairs Canada.
Along with Chief & Council, the members of the Cannabis Working Group are attending the meeting.
