Ratsénhaienhs Clinton Phillips attending Nuclear Waste Working Group meeting in Toronto

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that Ratsénhaienhs Clinton Phillips will be attending the Anishinabek/Iroquois Caucus Nuclear Waste Working Group (‘Working Group’) meeting today and tomorrow in Toronto. One of the agenda items will be the discussion of the Working Group’s request to organize a side event on the topic of Nuclear Waste at the upcoming United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. This year’s theme for the U.N. event is ‘Indigenous Peoples’ Collective Rights to Lands, Territories and Resources’ and will take place from 16 to 27, Onerahtókha/April in New York City. Ratsénhaienhs Phillips (who holds the Environment Portfolio on behalf of the MCK) and Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton will attend the U.N. event on behalf of the MCK and the Iroquois Caucus.
