The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that members of the Kahnawà:ke Search & Rescue team are traveling to Waskaganish to assist in the search for several Cree men who went missing when their boat apparently capsized while on a hunting trip.
MCK Emergency Preparedness & Planning General Manager KellyAnn Meloche will be among the group to coordinate the Kahnawà:ke efforts and to offer her expertise.
Other Kahnawa’kehró:non are volunteering their services, along with their all-terrain vehicles, in the search, which is taking place on or near Rupert Bay.
The hunters left for their trip on October 17th and had not been heard from since. The body of one of the four hunters was recovered late last week.
Ratitsénhaienhs Bobby Patton and Martin Leborgne will join the search effort.
