Search for local woman underway

10/13/2017

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers are currently conducting a search and rescue operation for a local woman in the St. Lawrence River this morning.

The search began just around 05:00, after reports that the woman went into the water in the area of the CP Rail Train Bridge.

The Peacekeepers, along with the Sûreté du Quebéc, SPVM and the Montreal, Chateauguay and Beauharnois Fire Departments are currently searching the water downriver from the train bridge.

The Peacekeepers have requested air support for this search and rescue operation, and at least one helicopter is expected to be in the area shortly.

As this is an on-going operation, no other details are being released at this time.
