Community invited to attend Chiefs Picnic in the Park today
08/24/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to remind community members that they are invited to attend today’s ‘Picnic in the Park’ from 12 noon to 4pm at the Splash Pad Recreation Park.
The event has been created as a means of community engagement between Chief & Council and Kahnawa’kehró:non in a non-formal setting. Lunch and beverages will be served. There will be music, games and prizes for the kids.
“We did this last year at Matty’s Park and it was so successful that we decided it was worth doing again,” said Ratsénhaienhs Clinton Phillips, who is the main organizer. “It’s simple: just show up, grab some lunch and speak to any of the Council Chiefs, or the Grand Chief on the issues that are important to you. Whether you have questions, concerns or ideas, we’ll be available all afternoon.”
Should the weather become uncooperative, the event will take place inside the Golden Age Club.
