Reminder - budding TV show producers sought to Pitch Ideas for Cash

06/20/2017

The Kahnawà:ke Communications Network reminds budding TV show producers that up to $1000 dollars is available for any person or group wishing to create their own TV show. Budding TV show producers can pitch ideas to a panel of judges on a brand new show called “The Story Tellers Vault,” which will air on Kaná:takon Television on local cable. The deadline to apply is this Friday, June 23rd.

The Tellers Vault is similar to the popular TV shows Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank. However, instead of investing in business proposals, the panel of judges awards cash to help budding TV show producers create a pilot TV show for local channels 300 & 399.

If you have an idea for a show visit www.kahnawake.com/tv and fill out a submission form or pick one up at any of the participating Organizations (KOR, KYC, KEC, Tewatohnhi’saktha, MCK, Step by Step, KSCS, PKs, KFB or KMHC).

Simply pitch your show idea with an estimate of how much it will cost and the judges can each invest up to $1000 dollars in your project. Each pitch should have an element of the official Community Vision and will be judged based on its own merits. If developed, its creator will maintain 100% ownership of their show concept.

“The Tellers Vault mirrors the concept of the Caisse Community Development Fund and we hope to see new TV shows developed by our very creative Community that reflect the Community Vision,” said Alana Atwin, KEC Communications Officer.

The ‘Tellers Vault' is sponsored by the Caisse Populaire Kahnawake Community Development Fund and free air time for each pilot show is courtesy of the Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Cultural Center, who operate Kaná:takon TV. The use of technical equipment and studio is being made available by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke.
