Team Kahnawake to receive $40,000 donation

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke Sports & Recreation Department is pleased to announce that Team Kahnawą:ke has been chosen to receive a donation in the amount of $40 thousand dollars from the Kateri Memorial Foundation (Foundation) to offset costs to participate in the 2017 North American Indigenous in Toronto, Ontario this summer.
The North American Indigenous Games will take place from July 17th to the 23rd and Team Kahnawą:ke will be featuring 105 high-caliber athletes competing in 11 different sports. The money will be used in a variety of areas, including the purchase of uniforms and equipment, travel costs and venue rentals.
We are extremely pleased that the Kateri Memorial Foundation is making this commitment to help our youth," said Mackenzie Whyte, General Manager of Sports and Recreation. "The North American Indigenous Games promotes health and fitness which in turn develops life-long athletes.
The donation will come from the proceeds of the Foundation′s 4th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be held at Kanawaki Golf Club on Monday, June 19, 2017.
