Community Tenants Meeting April 4th and 5th
03/22/2017
The Housing Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is inviting all local tenants (renters) to participate in meetings to discuss and gauge interest in the establishment of a ′rental board′ type of structure within the community.
Two sessions will be held at the Peacekeeper’s Station – Tuesday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th from 6pm – 8pm. Dinner will be provided at 5:15pm for those in attendance.
The Housing Department is seeking the thoughts and experiences of local tenants in areas such as leases, tenant rights, landlord rights, protection of property, insurance, etc.
"As I stated previously, we′re trying to deal with issues from both landlords and tenants to avoid community members from taking cases to outside authorities," said Housing Portfolio Chief Ratsénhaienhs Martin Leborgne. "We′ve met with a number of tenants individually and there is a want for some sort of regulation."
Your Input matters on this important issue. Please R.S.V.P. with Reva D’Ailleboust at (450) 638-0500 by March 31st at 4pm to confirm attendance. Seating is limited.
