The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that the construction of a new building for Animal Protection is now underway near the Peacekeeper Station.
The new building will allow for the return of pound services and to be the new location for all future animal spay & neuter and vaccination services.
"We look forward to returning animal protection services to the community since the closure of the pound in July of 2015," said Director of Public Safety Arnold Lazare.
The request to designate the lot for construction was unanimously approved by Chief & Council at the September 19th Council meeting.
The Capital Unit is carrying out the construction of the building which is expected to be completed by January 2017.
