Bridge work and Vigil will impact area traffic Saturday

06/16/2016

The Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers and the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to remind all motorists to keep safety in mind this Saturday, June 18 as the 10th anniversary vigil and march for Tiffany Morrison will be held from 10am-1pm along route 132 near the Mercier Bridge.

Due to the on-going work on the Mercier Bridge, there will also be a closure of the route 132 up-ramp and traffic will be detoured via route 138 during this time. The Peacekeepers, MCK and the Jacques Cartier Champlain Bridges Incorporated are working together to ensure the safety of the marchers in the area of the bridge and along the detour route.

“The area around the bridge and route 132 will be busier than usual because of this weekend’s closure, so we’re asking motorists to use caution, or even an alternate route to avoid unnecessary delays,” said Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie. “This will enable those honoring the memory of Tiffany Morrison to have a safe march."

The Peacekeepers will be providing officers and vehicles for safety and traffic control.
