Aerial mosquito spraying in Chateauguay

The Public Safety Unit (PSU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising the community that an aerial spraying operation to control the mosquito population is currently being conducted in Chateauguay near the boundary of Kahnawà:ke.

No entity is authorized at any time to carry out an aerial spraying operation in Kahnawà:ke.

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers and PSU were informed that during the course of the operation, the low-flying helicopter was spotted flying over several areas within the boundaries of Kahnawà:ke.

“The company has been contacted and informed that they are not authorized to fly over our Territory,” said Director of Public Safety Arnold Lazare. “The company has complied and will ensure they do not cross over the boundary of Kahnawà:ke.”
