Holiday Train visit a success
12/01/2015
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) is pleased to inform the public that this years visit by Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train was a resounding success, despite very challenging weather this past Friday evening (27 Kentenhkó:wa/November).
Approximately 300-plus persons made their way to Adirondack Junction to enjoy the live entertainment, free hot chocolate, candy canes, glow sticks and, of course, the brightly-lit Holiday Train itself. Smart Pop popcorn was also distributed in support of CPs Healthy Heart campaign. Volunteers from the various Kahnawą:ke organizations ensured the success of the event.
CP Rail donated $4,500 to the Kahnawą:ke Christmas Basket, with an additional $271.80 collected in donations on-site. A truckload of non-perishable food items was also collected on behalf of the Kateri Food Bank.
The visit was almost ten years to the day since the Holiday Train made its first appearance in Kahnawą:ke on 28 Kentenhkó:wa/November 2005. Since that time, CP has donated over $20,000 to the Kahnawą:ke Christmas Basket.
