Both Kahnawàke-bound lanes closed this weekend on Mercier Bridge
02/17/2015
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform road users that the Ministère des Transports du Québec will completely close both Kahnawà:ke-bound lanes of the Mercier Bridge this weekend for repairs to the structural elements.
The closure will take place from Saturday, February 21st at 2am until Monday, February 23rd at 5am, effectively closing these lanes all day Saturday and Sunday. During this time, there will be no traffic flow towards the south shore. Both Montreal-bound lanes will remain fully open. This one way configuration is necessary in case of bad weather and will facilitate safe snow removal and de-icing operations. These operations cannot be properly performed with contraflow traffic because the width of the lanes is not adequate for snow removal vehicles.
Other lane closures might be necessary for similar work in the coming weeks.
The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
