Weather caution for travelers
12/22/2014
The Community Protection Unit (CPU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is advising the community to be cautious of a freezing rain warning in effect that may make it difficult to travel during the beginning of this holiday season.
Beginning today, ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
Wet and slippery conditions may cause hindrances on the roadway and motorists are urged to take caution while traveling.
Before venturing out, check the local short-term weather forecast and ensure you have a roadside kit in the case of an emergency.
For further information please contact the CPU at 450-632-0635.
