Tobacco on the agenda for Iroquois Caucus next week

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that three chiefs will be attending the upcoming two-day meeting of the Iroquois Caucus being held in Tyendinaga next week.
The main agenda item is expected to be the tobacco issue – specifically the C-10 ‘anti-contraband tobacco’ amendment to the Canadian Criminal Code. Other topics include education; Iroquois Caucus free trade; taxation; and the Assembly of First Nations ‘national dialogue.
The meetings will be held next Thursday and Friday, December 4 and 5. Chiefs Martin Leborgne and Bobby Patton will attend both days, while Tobacco Portfolio Chief Gina Deer will be present for the tobacco issue on Thursday only.
The Iroquois Caucus consists of the elected Councils from Akwesasne, Kahnawà:ke, Kanesatake, Six Nations, Tyendinaga, Wahta, and the Oneida of the Thames.
