Notice to Kahnawà:ke veterans and their families
10/06/2014
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise military veterans and families who purchase or receive medical supplies and other materials purchased by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (‘V.A.’) that could/should facilitate border crossing.
“It will make things easier if veterans make sure that they ask for receipts for all articles from the V.A., with the amount paid by them,” said Chief Billy Diabo, who holds the Border Portfolio for the MCK. “The V.A. understands the problems that sometimes arise and are willing to help find solutions. Making sure everyone asks for and receives their receipts is one of the quickest and easiest solutions.”
“If you have a problem at the border, try to get the name of the officer or officers if at all possible,” he concluded.
In cases where other issues arise, whether in relation to Veterans Affairs or other more general issues, Chief Diabo asks that he be contacted immediately.
