Temporary Traffic Camera for Mercier Bridge
06/27/2014
Sent jointly with the Kahnawake Peacekeepers
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) and the Kahnawake Peacekeepers would like to inform the community of the installation of a temporary traffic camera on the Mercier bridge.
The camera will be installed today, on the Kahnawake side of the span, and will be in place for the duration of the current “blitz” work, which is expected to be completed on August 11, 2014. The camera is being installed by the MTQ, at the request of the MCK and the Kahnawake Peacekeepers to mitigate traffic issues on the Montreal-bound span, which directly impacts our highways and roads. The camera will also assist emergency services should an intervention be required due to an accident or stall on the bridge. It will also assist the Peacekeepers should they need to shut down the bridge in the event that an ambulance needs to cross into Montreal with a trauma patient. The images and video from this temporary camera will not be available to the public.
