Weekend closure reminder for Mercier Bridge
04/17/2014
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to remind road users that the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) will close both Kahnawà:ke-bound lanes of the Mercier Bridge on Friday, April 18th at 5am until Tuesday, April 22nd at 5am.
During this period, one lane heading in each direction will be available on the Montreal-bound side of the bridge. The closure is necessary to carry out repair work on the structural elements under the bridge.
Due to the scheduled work on the bridge, and increased traffic on its approaches, the MCK has granted permission to CITSO and other bus companies, use of the Multi-Purpose lane after hours and on the week-end. This will help reduce the impact on traffic related delays for public transit users.
Additionally, motorists are reminded that the MTQ plans to perform similar work on the following dates:
- Friday, April 25th at 10pm, until Monday, April 28th at 5am; - Friday, May 2nd at 10pm until Monday, May 5th at 5am; - Friday, May 9th at 10pm until Monday, May 12th at 5am; - Friday, June 6th at 10pm until Monday, June 9th at 5am; The MCK reminds the public that works/closures on the Mercier Bridge are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
