Chiefs attending AFNQL Chiefs Assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chiefs Lloyd Phillips and Clinton Phillips will be attending the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec & Labrador (AFNQL) Chiefs’ Assembly being held in Montreal from today until Thursday.

Agenda items include Political Relations with the Quebec Government; Political Relations with the Federal Government; Public Security; and Updates on Comprehensive Claims, Fuel Tax; and the First Nations Youth Network. There will also be a discussion on the Enbridge oil pipeline proposal and mining issues.

Lloyd Phillips is the MCK’s representative to the AFNQL and holds its Public Security portfolio. Clinton Phillips is attending to gain a better understanding of the workings of the AFNQL and to attend the Enbridge discussion.
