Kahnawake Creek & Shoreline Cleanup

09/12/2012

The Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to invite all Kahnawa’kehró:non to take part in the first Kahnawą:ke Community Creek & Shoreline Cleanup on Thursday, September 20th from 9am to 2:30pm. The rain date is Friday, September 21st.

KEPO’s efforts are a result of a petition that was delivered to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke in 2010 to address the conditions of creeks and water quality in Kahnawą:ke. A study will be conducted and this Creek and Shoreline Cleanup event will provide KEPO with the opportunity to draw attention to the state of our creeks how our actions impact creek habitat and water quality, as well as, how to be a better creek neighbor.

Community members can take part by joining other Kahnawa’kehró:non in cleaning Creeks & Shorelines by your home, public areas or any other secluded area. KEPO will be hosting a booth at the Kahnawą:ke Services Complex (bank & post office) where participants can pick up gloves, garbage bags and other fun goodies.

Please contact KEPO at 450-635-0600 for more information on this initiative and how you can take part.
