MCK welcomes new Membership Registrar

09/22/2011

The Social Development Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Rose-Ann Morris is the successful candidate for the position of Membership Registrar.

Ms. Morris has a great deal of experience working in the public sector. Over her impressive career, she has held positions with the Department of Indian Affairs, the Assembly of First Nations and, since 1997, with the MCK. She will continue her work on the Seigneury of Sault St. Louis lands grievance (she is the Project leader) and other claims files until she begins her new duties on 10, Kenténha/October.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Rose-Ann to her new role,” said the Director of Social Development, Alexis Shackleton. “Since the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law is moving into the Community Decision Making Process for amendment, I’m sure she’ll find her role challenging, and we’re sure her wealth of experience and knowledge will benefit the community in an important way.”

“We’d like to thank Rose-Ann for all her hard work and dedication on the various political files over these past fifteen years,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. “She brought a lot of valuable insight and passion to her work on the Seigneury file. Chief & Council would like to wish her all the best in her new job.”
