MCK offers text messaging notification service
06/21/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce the creation of a text messaging notification service intended for timely urgent notices sent directly to your cellular phone.
Emergencies that immediately affect people sometimes take hours, even days until the notice reaches some portions of our community.
“Boil water advisories and Mercier Bridge traffic notes are two recent examples of instant notices that need to communicated promptly,” said Neil McComber, Director of Communications. “Now, people can get the information they need, as instantly as we send it.”
Two lists will be created: local and non-local. Those who wish to receive notices that affect residents can sign up for the local list, and those who wish to receive general messages only can sign up for the non-local list. Mercier Bridge notices will go to both lists.
To register, you can contact Communications by telephone at (450) 632-7500, e-mail mohawk.council@mck.ca, or fill out the online form on the main page .
Simply indicate your cellular number, your provider (Bell, Rogers, Fido, Videotron, etc) and which list you would like to be registered on.
A warning notice to those who have a pay per message cellular phone plan: by subscribing, you will be solely responsible for any additional text messaging fees charged by your provider.
