Mercier Bridge: Traffic reconfiguration due to Kahnawà:ke-bound closure

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform road users that, as reported earlier, the Ministère de Transport du Quebec (MTQ) has completely shut down the Kahnawà:ke-bound side of the Mercier Bridge in order to replace 10 gusset plates. Therefore, the Montreal-bound lanes have been designated to accommodate all traffic in both directions.

The following schedule has been put in place for Weekday traffic configuration until further notice:

•    1pm - Midnight: Both lanes in the Kahnawà:ke-bound direction ONLY.
•    Midnight - 1am: Complete stoppage of traffic to reconfigure for direction change.
•    1am – Noon: Both lanes in the Montreal-bound direction ONLY.
•    Noon – 1pm: Complete stoppage of traffic to reconfigure for direction change. 
•    Weekends: From Friday midnight to Sunday midnight one lane in each direction will be available.

This schedule is expected to remain in effect Monday to Friday until September but is subject to change as the MTQ studies traffic patterns.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will keep the community informed up to the minute as developments occur.
