MCK issues open letter to community – clarifications re: Mercier Bridge works
03/15/2011
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is issuing an open letter to the community to help clarify and correct misinformation circulating in regard to the Mercier Bridge repair works. “The primary responsibility of the MCK is to protect the rights and interests of all workers in Kahnawà:ke, to ensure all have an equal opportunity to work on the bridge, and to ensure that all outside entities respect the spirit and intent of the 1932 Order-In-Council issued by the Government of Canada that requires workers from Kahnawà:ke be given priority for all bridge works,” says the MCK in the letter. The letter is available for viewing at www.kahnawake.com. As well, copies will be distributed at tonight’s Winter Community Meeting. Copies will also be available upon request at the reception of the MCK’s main offices.
