Fair Wage Agreement signed

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that the 2010/2011 Fair Wage and Conditions Agreement has been signed by the MCK and the Mohawk Bridge Consortium.

The agreement sets the wages, benefits and safe working conditions “for works on bridge structures, bridge components and approachways in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke.”

It is an essential component to contracts signed for repairs to the Mercier Bridge.

It was signed on Monday, 22 Kentenhkó:wa/November by Chief Rhonda Kirby (on behalf of the MCK) and Wayne Rice, Sterling Deer and Peter Morris (on behalf of the Mohawk Bridge Consortium, the contractors on the Mercier Bridge repair project).

The Agreement is retroactive to April 1, 2010 and is in effect until March 31, 2011.
