The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) would like to offer its condolences to the friends and family of Doris Mayo White, who passed away this past weekend at her home in Kahnawą:ke. She was elected to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke in 1978, serving a two-year term as a Council Chief. She never shied away from speaking her mind on the issues and was politically active for many years. She was also a strong advocate for the Mohawk Language. It seems that everyone in Kahnawą:ke knew Doris, said Grand Chief Michael Ahrķhrhon Delisle, Jr. She was as selfless an individual as Ive ever known. She will truly be missed. She was predeceased by her husband Norman and is survived by her eight children, her brother Alec, nineteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. Visitation is at the Poissant & Deer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:30pm on Tuesday, 9 Kentenhkó:wa/November.
