Meeting to discuss ‘North Creek’ petition

10/05/2010

Concerned community members are being invited to a meeting to discuss problems/issues concerning the so-called ‘North Creek,’ which runs through the main village area.

In August, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke received a petition asking that remedial measures be taken to stop the accumulation of stagnant waters in the creek which, residents say, has created foul odors and other problems. The issue was discussed at the August Community Meeting, at which time a commitment was made to study the problems and explore possible solutions.

A presentation of these findings will be made at the Community Room at the Peacekeepers Station on Wednesday, 20 Kenténha/October at 7pm. This will immediately be followed by a discussion between community members and the various MCK departments who are responsible in these types of matters.
