Decision made re: Complaints against Chief Carl Horn

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke announced today that the final report following an investigation into official complaints against Chief Carl Horn has been presented to Chief & Council, and that certain recommendations contained in the report have been accepted and implemented. It was directed by Chief & Council that Chief Horn
be required to affirm his commitment to the Declaration of Office and Code of Conduct as an act of good faith and as a gesture of commitment to represent his community and the Council in his best possible manner. Upon his verbal acceptance of these measures, Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke Executive Decision (MCED) #42/2009-2010 was formally signed by a quorum of the Chiefs present. Chief Mike Bush abstained. Chief Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer did not participate in the decision due to friendship with several of the complainants. Chiefs Lloyd Phillips and Peggy Mayo-Standup were not in attendance due to other commitments. The investigation was conducted by former Tyendinaga Police Chief Larry Hay, who presented his final report and recommendations to Chief & Council last week. The complaints against Chief Horn were made on 5, Onerahtohkó:wa/May and were processed in accordance with the Disciplinary Measures regulations.
